Transformer Tips #1:
Transformers work hard! And when we work hard, we get warm, right? So does a transformer. It will feel warm to the touch, so don’t be alarmed. If your transformer is large enough to carry the load, it should not overheat and become damaged.
Transformer Tips #2:
Since transformers get warm when working, they might get heat exhaustion or heat stroke, metaphorically speaking. So you must give them some room to breathe! They should always be placed in areas which allow them to do so. There must always be a sufficient supply of free air flow around them, so never operate a transformer in a box, under furniture, or in any other enclosed area that would prohibit air flow. Make sure they’re in a well-ventilated area that lets them cool down and prevent overheating and potential damage.
Transformer Tips #3:
When in Rome – do as the Romans do. With electricity, it’s not exactly a choice. You have to use a transformer to convert the flow of electricity to the proper operating level. As a rule of thumb, the US generally uses 120V 60Hz while much of Europe uses 230V 50Hz.
