Transformer Tips
Transformer Tips #1: Transformers need to breathe! So they should always be placed in areas which allow them to do so. There must always be a sufficient supply of free air flow around them, so never operate a transformer in a box, under furniture, or in any other enclosed area that would prohibit air flow.
Transformer Tips #2: Transformers work hard! And when we work hard, we get warm, right? So does a transformer. It will feel warm to the touch, so don’t be alarmed. If your transformer is large enough to carry the load, it should not overheat and become damaged.
Transformer Tips #3: When in Rome – do as the Romans do. With electricity, it’s not exactly a choice. You have to use a transformer to convert the flow of electricity to the proper operating level. As a rule of thumb, the US generally uses 120V 60Hz while much of Europe uses 230V 50Hz.
At Mitchell Electronics Corporation, we’re not new to transformers. In fact, we built and shipped our first custom made transformers over 70 years ago, and we’ve been shipping millions and millions of them ever since. We know transformers, from Toroid, Ferrite, Laminated Iron Core, High Voltage, Auto Transformers, Audio, Encapsulated, Power Transformers, and Instrument Transformers, all the way up to 1.5Kva. This is what we do and we do it well.
